Muthaiga Golf Club

Muthaiga golf club  is known as the Home of Golf. It is located on the edge of the Karura forest in the affluent suburb of Muthaiga and is an ultimate embodiment of Kenya's unique marriage of ancient golf tradition and a modern 18-Hole Championship Golf Course. The initial 9-hole layout was established in 1913, with the complete 18-hole course finished in 1926 making the club one of Kenya's golfing pioneers. In 2002 Muthaiga underwent an extensive reconstruction designed by the acclaimed South African course designer Peter Matkovich. The makeover returned Muthaiga to its prominence as the finest course with the fastest greens in East Africa. The course is noted for the quality of its greens and beautifully landscaped bunkers, with water, trees and flowering bushes coming into play at many of the holes. Muthaiga Golf Club offers a great ambiance with numerous lakes and ponds. The water features are a breeding ground for Egyptian Geese and other fauna. Monkeys frolic around on the 522 yards dog legged hole 4 and the approaching par 3, hole 5.
